The Other Cutaias
9.23.7

In a Google search of the word Cutaia, my site currently shows up second.

While I'd like to say that this is a direct result of my website's awesomeness, it's more than likely due to the fact that I have a somewhat uncommon last name. However, the process of regularly checking Google for rank changes has at least introduced me to some of the other Cutaias out there.

First off, is the Cutaia Mortgage Group, run by Susan and Anthony Cutaia. The CMG and I used to switch ranks on a daily basis, constantly alternating between first and second place in the great Cutaia race. It was like a battle being waged on Google's land, and we were neck-and-neck for a while. When I hadn't been updating regularly, they would suddenly take the lead, but I was usually able to pull ahead again fairly quickly.

For quite some time, though, I've been unable to get back into that coveted #1 spot. I've finally figured out why. It seems that the Cutaia Mortgage Group has discovered an unbeatable method for retaining the top Google spot: Scandal.

Ironically, these mortgage brokers once released a book advising people not to pay their mortgages...ever! In order to see exactly how that strategy paid off, all one has to do is scan the South Florida Business Journal. Stories of bankruptcy, investors who lost millions, and a federal investigation fill the search results for "Cutaia."

Alright...so, maybe these Cutaias aren't quite my style. Their son, Anthony Cutaia, just might be a little closer to it.

I actually didn't find him through a Google search. Quite the opposite, actually...he found me (assumably, checking for his own website, which hasn't yet cracked the top ten). In any case, he contacted me when he realized that, like himself, I enjoyed posting goofy videos on the internet. While he has since changed the focus of his page to a more professional video service, with an emphasis on weddings, his more "cutaia-style" movies can still be found at his YouTube channel.

Fun fact: His mom, Susan Cutaia from above, is even featured in the short film, Attack of the Gnome!

Moving on, we have a kid that shares not only my last name, but my first as well. Based out of Long Island, Brian Cutaia (2) has also used the internet to show his creative side. His aspirations are of being a stand-up comedian. He's even taken some steps towards making that dream a reality by doing some sets in actual comedy clubs.

Personally, I feel that a percentage of his jokes still have a bit of an awkward feel to them, but for the most part, I like his material more each time I see him perform. He just might be able to make some kind of living with his comedy, yet.

(If you do watch some of his videos, be warned: He pronounces his last name wrong.)

In any case...this brings me to the final Cutaias on this list: Al and Tara, also out of New York. (An aside: When my family emigrated from Italy, they lived first in New York, and eventually ended up in Florida where they've lived ever since. Interestingly, all of the Cutaias I find these days live in those two states.)

Al and Tara are the reason that you are currently browsing cutaia.net instead of cutaia.com. They have had that domain locked down for years now, and they show no sign of letting go anytime soon.

I think the thing that frustrates me the most about cutaia.com, isn't the fact that it's filled with boring pictures of kids...but the fact that it's been filled with the same boring pictures of kids for so long! These people only seem to update their website once a year when a new baby is born.

I mean, if they're going to waste the cutaia.com domain on photo albums and family news, the least they could do is keep it current, right? Not that it matters much to me, anymore. Over the years I've actually grown quite fond of the .net, and I now create all of my websites using it. Still...It's the principle of it.

Oh well...

So, there you have it: An informal history of all things Cutaia-related on this old internet of ours. Join us next time when we'll discuss something even more interesting. Like...saltpeter.

Or something...
